October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Do the KIND Thing.

Most of posts are very fun and lighthearted, but occasional, I post about some pretty serious issues. Today is one of those times. As much as I wish that I could always post happy things, I feel it is very important to bring awareness to important issues.

One of the biggest issues for women(and men) is breast cancer. Sadly, there are so many people affected by this horrible disease. Both those who are directly afflicted with it, and also those that love them and fight the battle with them.

While I have not had to battle breast cancer myself so far, I have been right there in the fight along with some very strong and amazing women. My very best childhood friend love her grandmother to breast cancer. She lived with her grandparents who raised her since she was a child, so basically, she lost her mother, who was also like a surrogate mother to me.

She was such a strong woman(in terms of the battle with cancer, and just in general), and she put up one heck of a fight. That took such a toll on me, I can only imagine how hard it was on her and on my dear friend. I have so much admiration for everyone who has to face this horrible disease. Their bravery is so moving.

It is so hard on me knowing that there is nothing I can do to help the women who are suffering. Weather it be physically, or emotionally, that is such a huge burden to bear. I always want to do something, anything, to help.

Since research is the key to ending breast cancer, I am always looking for ways to support breast cancer charities. Of course I donate money directly, but whenever I see a product which donates proceeds to breast cancer, I always support them.

When I found out that KIND has partnered with Best Friends For Life to be included in their limited edition Breast BFFL Bag, I definitely had to check it out. The reason KIND is included is that Dr Elizabeth Thompson(The creator of the Breast BFFL Bag) recommends KIND as a post-surgery snack.

Dr Elizabeth Thompson is such an amazing woman. After watching her mother and sister experience breast cancer first hand, she decided to undergo a double mastectomy along with them, even though she was in perfect health. Now that is love.

Post-surgery, she realized that the cards and cookies they received were a wonderful and generous thought, but they did not really meet the needs of women undergoing breast cancer treatment. That is why she created the Brest BFFL Bag, which is a hospital bag full of essentials for recovery from breast surgery.

These incredible bags sell for $100 each. They would make the perfect pick me up for any friend or family member suffering from breast cancer. If by the grace of God you don't know anyone who is suffering from breast cancer, you can also purchase a bag to be donated to an anonymous, deserving patient.

For every bag purchased during October, KIND will donate an additional $5 to Friends Fighting Breast Cancer.

I know that $100 is a lot of money to most people. It that is not something that you are able to do, but would still like to contribute something, KIND is asking for letters of encouragement. The letters will be bound into a booklet and be included with each of the anonymously donated bags. Sometimes the simplest things can make the biggest impact.
You can send your letters of encouragement via email to bfflco@kindsnacks.com.

I am in love with KIND simply because of their compassion and generosity, but before hearing of this amazing promotion, I had never tried KIND products. I have seen them before and have wanted to try them many times in the past, but never did.

I finally tried them, and I cannot believe that I had been missing out for so long.
KIND products are so delicious. And even better, they are nutritious. I have been working very hard to lose weight and keep it off this whole year. And while these might not be fat free, they are filled with good fats from nuts. They are packed with protein and other wonderful nutrients.

There are so many amazing flavors of bars.
Aside fro how incredible they taste, my favorite thing about KIND bars is that you can actually see exactly what is in them. You know what you are eating. So many snack bars are just a bunch of mystery ingredients mushed together.

KIND bars are all natural and Non GMO. They are a great source of Fiber and protein. Many varieties are even wheat and gluten free. This is real food, just in the most tasty and convenient way possible. I totally see why these would be perfect for those recovering from surgery.

As amazing as the bars are, the granola is just as fabulous, or maybe even more so. I am a huge granola lover, but the KIND granola was probably the best that I've ever tried, especially the Cinnamon Oat Clusters.
The Dark Chocolate Cranberry Clusters are fantastic as well, and even more of a dessert quality treat.
Not only are these products all mouthwatering and wholesome, they are also filling which is so important to me. Something can be low in calories or whatever, but if you have to eat 3 times as much to get full and they are empty calories, it is actually much worse than a product more calorie and nutritionally dense, such as these.

I have actually lost weight by eating these when I was kind of stuck when trying to diet specifically. I could not be happier with these products. They taste so good. It really is hard to believe they are also so healthy. It is better than eating candy bars, seriously.

KIND is the company for me. Their amazing products and their generosity are so hard to find, especially together from the same company. They truly are KIND, and that means so much more to me than flashy(and cheesy) advertizing campaigns. I'll take a great product for a great cause any day.

I hope that everyone who has not tried KIND will just give it a chance. One bite is all it will take to get hooked. If you can purchase one of the amazing Breast BFFL Bags for someone in your life or to be donated, please do. If not, please write a letter of encouragement.

Most of all, please do whatever you are able to to spread awareness about breast cancer. While October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, sadly, for the people that suffer from this disease, every month is. Anyone can make a difference, just be KIND.

*Although I received these KIND products at no cost to facilitate a review, all opinions are 100% my own*
