As you all know, I have been working hard to lose weight, and to keep it off. I really have to watch what I eat. I had to cut out all of the fatty, sugar laden foods that I love and still crave. Of course it is worth it, but it is still hard.
Every once in awhile, I really need to treat myself to something sweet and indulgent. I don't want to totally sabotage my hard work, so finding something that will satisfy my cravings and not pack on the pounds(too much) is important. And unfortunately, it's not very easy.
That is to say, it WAS not very easy. But I recently discovered a product that I really love. It is totally inciting, and not exactly diet, but is definitely a lesser evil. Gaslamp Popcorn is just incredible!
Gaslamp Popcorn is 100% natural, non-GMO and gluten-free. It is grown and popped right here in the USA(in California to be exact). It is popped in small batches giving it superior taste and quality and ensuring that every handful is popped to perfection.
Gaslamp Popcorn comes in three incredible flavors.
Kettle Corn(Sweet & Salty):
Kettle corn is one of my all time favorite snacks. I adore the contrast and compliment of the sweet and salty. I love the subtle crispness of the sugar "glaze" on the fluffy popcorn. I love that it is not overly sweet and sugary tasting. You can still taste the popcorn and the saltiness.
Some kettle corn tastes like sugar with added popcorn when it should be vice verse. This is completely perfect. Also, since this is made with only popcorn, canola oil, cane sugar and salt, it is actually pretty healthy.
Obviously, sugar is not a dieters best friend, but it is ok in moderation, and the lack of artificial ingredients and high whole grain content makes this a great indulgence. Plus, it is more filling than many snacks of similar fat/calorie content. This is only 130 calories per serving.
The only thing that makes this a risk to a diet is the fact that I could eat a whole bag without even trying. It really is that good. My daughter and I had this gone on two days. So I obviously exceeded the serving size. I don;t even feel bad about it, and neither does my scale.
Cinnamon Caramel:
This is heavenly. It is a bit more of a splurge than the Kettle Corn, but it is totally worth it. As much as I adore Kettle Corn, this was even better. I am a caramel popcorn lover through and through, but I never even considered cinnamon and caramel together.
The cinnamon makes this so unique and special. It taste so incredible that I cannot even describe it in words. It is the food equivalent of winning the lottery. Once again, I ate way too much, but it really is not as bad for you as it tastes. I cannot remember the exact nutrition content, but I am almost positive that it was about 210 calories and under 10g of fat per serving.
White Cheddar:
I love white cheddar popcorn, even less natural brands, but this was incredible. It tastes so real, because it is. It is light, fluffy and crisp. The cheesy flavor is so rich and savory. It's perfect.
Thankfully, I was not able to overdo it on this variety, because hubby ate it all before I had the chance. It was a miracle I even got to taste it(only because I opened it first). Once he tried it, it was gone in one sitting. He said it is the best popcorn he's ever had.
He did not try the other ones, because he does not eat sweet popcorn(for some crazy reason). That just meant more for me and our daughter, who loved them. I had to fight her for the bags as she kept running off with them.
I cannot say enough how fantastic Gaslamp Popcorn truly is. I love that it is all natural. You know exactly what you are eating. There are no ingredients that you cannot pronounce or recognize, that is important to me, especially since I am watching what I eat. It is hard to watch what you eat if you have no idea what's in your food.
So snack on some whole grains, indulge your sweet(or savory) tooth and make your scale happy. Drop those fatty chips(artificial popcorn, etc), get something healthier, slimmer, and way more delicious, with Gaslamp Popcorn.
*Although I received these at no cost to facilitate a review, all opinions are 100% my own*
Wow! This is really delicious popcorn. The White Cheddar looks delicious and I like that it is healthier popcorn!
ReplyDeleteI set aside all the marketing hype, did some basic math, and discovered a TON (pun intended) of dishonest advertising:
ReplyDelete1 bag of GL popcorn (Sea Salt & Olive Oil) includes a label on the front of the bag touting 37 calories per cup (this claim conflicts with the label on the back of the package, which says 140 calories PER CUP (or "serving"). Total serving size = 5 cups.
Thus eating just one bag of "empty" fluff devoid of any vitamins or minerals = 700 WHOPPING CALORIES.
Total fat per serving = 9%. 9 x 5 cups = 45% FAT in ONE bag!!!
So, essentially, this bag of popcorn, touted by the company as "healthier" will add SIGNIFICANT EMPTY CALORIES to ones body.
These companies should stop getting away with literal "murder" by lying to the public about the REAL caloric content of their products. But the only way to stop them is to publicly confront them (or sue them for false advertising).
This curiosity you describe is fantastic
