Nutrisystem Day 1 Review

Yesterday I began my new weight-loss journey with Nutrisystem. If you read my teaser the other day, then you knew this was coming, and you already saw the awesome supply of food I recieved for the month, but just in case, check it out.

Look at all that food. Can you believe I get all that every 4 weeks? AWESOME! Such a great selection, and nice portion sizes. Everything looks delicious.

With the Nutrisystem Success Program(that I am on), you get Fresh Frozen meals as well as Pantry meals(other plans of only pantry meals also available).

The frozen meals are all the more exciting, and it was so hard to even choose which items to try first.

Since I am a donut lover(addict), I just could not pass the chance to have a donut for breakfast(on a diet, it's unbelievable), so I went with the Chocolate Frosted Donut.

This was super yummy. It is much different from other donuts, in that it is more dense, like a cake donut, only even more firm(not hard or chewy or anything, just solid in a good way). It is really great in this case as it mean it is more filling(a plus with an portion controlled food).

The taste is kinda hard for me to explain. It is sweet(not too sweet) and really tasty, but the actual flavor is hard to categorize(for me anyway). I could swear that it tasted a little bit like egg nog. I have no idea why, but that is what I was thinking about the entire time. I love egg nog, so that was great.

As I already mentioned, it was actually very filling for a donut, and the size was rather good. I figured it would be much smaller(so glad it wasn't). It is pretty much the same size as a cake donut, maybe a little smaller(in thickness).

I enjoyed this with a yummy Vanilla Protein Shake, and I was full for hours. I will be honest and say that I still wanted food, but I know that I did not need it, and that is great.

I also get a morning Snack, which is to be a Power Fuel(protein). I did not know about this before actually being on Nutrisystem, so this was awesome.

Power Fuels can be many different things. Some examples are: 1 egg, 2oz lean meats, 2oz fatty fish(tuna etc), 3 oz shellfish or whitefish, 1oz string or snack cheese, 1 cup low fat yogurt, 1 cup fat free cottage cheese, 1 tbsp nut butter, 2 tbsp nuts, etc.

Today I choose fat free cottage cheese because I had it and I like it. Also, it is a good morning snack(I wouldn't do tuna in the morning).

With my morning snack, I was energized and full until lunch time. Once again, that is where I was torn, so many fantastic choices for lunch. Deciding what to try first was not easy, but Pizza is always a great choice, so I started there with the (Fresh Frozen) Margarita Pizza.

One of my favorite things about this pizza was discovered before I even tasted it. It's microwavable. I love that. I have using the stove, oven, etc to make meals just for myself, plus that takes longer.

Most frozen pizza is not microwavable, but this one is great from the microwave and even has it's own microwave crisping tray.

The size is pretty good for a diet meal, especially a lunch meal. The fact that you can also add a Power Fuel to your lunch, makes it even more amazing. I decided to go with 2 tbsp of almonds.

The pizza tastes really good. The texture of the crust is great, and the fact that it crisps up in the microwave is great. This really has a good flavor, and it tastes like "real" pizza which is great. Makes me feel like I am not sacrificing, and in any diet, that is very important.

It was nice and filling, especially with the almonds. And I was satisfied very well until my afternoon snack(yes I get another snack, how awesome).

Afternoon snacks are to be Smart Carbs(1 medium[or 2 small] fruit, 1 slice whole grain bread or 1 small whole grain roll, whole grain English muffin, 1 cup cut fruit/berries, 1/2 cup cereals, cooked rice/pasta, starchy veggies, 1/4 cup hummus, whole grain crackers, dried fruits. and so on). I just went with a cup of fruit.

Then we come to dinner(my favorite meal, and where I tend to eat the most(before dieting). I was slightly worried that the portion would be too small. But I get a Smart Carb with dinner also, plus most veggies are unlimited, so I can have those as well.

For my Nutrisystem dinner I chose the Chicken Alfredo.

This was pretty good. It is different than other Alfredo sauces I am used to, but that is too be expected since most Alfredo sauce is terribly fattening. It was not bad by any means, in fact, I enjoyed this very much. There was lots o chicken(unlike many diet meals that offer like 3 tiny pieces of meat).

The pasty is hearty and just the perfect texture, you get tons of sauce which I did not expect. The size is good, and the dish is quite satisfying.

For my sides I added Corn(Smart Carb), Green Peppers, and Zucchini(veggies). All together, it was a pretty good sized meal, and I was happy.

As if that was not great enough, I still got a dessert too. I LOVE DESSERT!

Giving up dessert is one of the things that I hate most about dieting, so being able to have one every night with Nutrisystem is so wonderful.

Of course, choosing was so hard, but the idea of a (Fresh Frozen) Red Velvet Whoopie Pie was too much to pass up, so I had to try that first.

As I imagined, it was fantastic. I only wish it was bigger, but even if it was twice as big, it was so good I would still want more. There was such a nice amount of yummy cream-cheese cream and the cake part was moist yet dense and so yummy. I ate it with a fork so I did not make a mess and to help me eat smaller bites(I ate very tiny bites to saver ever minute).

After day 1, I can say that this program is awesome. I cannot believe I get to eat so much. It still may take a little getting used to, and there will always be cravings, but Nutrisystem makes it so much easier to eat right and lose weight because you are never starving or giving up the foods you love.

I know I just started, but I think this is going to be perfect for me. I just know I am going to lose this weight, and I am so motivated now. From yesterday morning to this morning, I am down .4 lbs, maybe not a ton, but any results overnight is great, and just fuels the desire to keep going.

I took the first step with Nutrisystem and I am so glad I did. If you are considering it, I hope you will join me and make the decision to let Nutrisystem help you get where you want to be.

I will keep you all updated weekly of my progress with the program.

  1. All of that food made me so hungry! I never thought that on a dieting system you could eat so much. Especially dessert! I might have to seriously consider this myself.
